Rob Schwartz Admits That Chiat is "all Lee" Clow - mediabistro.com: AgencySpy
Some of the dopest Mc's are still posted on the block selling drugs just to get by.
50 is getting that money, Id rather be a multi-millionare sellout than be stuck in mixtape purgatory, and having to still grind on the streets.u
Same rules apply to advertising. Many people will not get ahead and will be stuck making banners ads for the rest of their careers because they dont sleep, drink or kiss up to their bosses and employees.
Sure, this is another step in the commercial direction, but 50 is simply an epitome of the fact that credibility and artistry are irrelevant in today's music business climate. The audience has demonstrated that it doesn't really care, as long as there's something fun to dance to, so what's to stop rampant opportunism for ruling the day.
There are plenty of talented, credible artists working day jobs to support their passions. For brands who do care about credibility, the real opportunity lies in aligning with them and providing a leg-up.
jay z started touring the world with jaz o when he was around 18, hence putting the streets behind him waaaaaay before "reasonable doubt" dropped.
biggie started talking about moving off of st. james street the second he did his paperwork with puffy. back then he wanted to move to croton falls, but eventually landed in jersey.
it's 2009- brooklyn is gentrified, white pople have reclaimed harlem and el barrio. the only street cred is the amount of money you have in your portfolio.
